Preparations for "Arirang"

Extravaganza "Arirang" to be given

The grand mass gymnastics and artistic performance "Arirang", winner of Kim Il Sung Prize, is slated to be given in Pyongyang on the occasion of the 63rd founding anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The contents and forms of the extravaganza have been revised and replenished with eye-opening events taking place in the DPRK’s efforts to build a powerful and prosperous country, and the acoustic and lighting equipment and installations perfected with up-to-date ones.

"Arirang" will be performed at the May Day Stadium from August 1 to September 9.

'Arirang' Preparations Brisk in DPRK

Preparations for the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang", an annual event, are making headway in the DPRK.

The creative staff members are pooling their wisdom to improve the performance involving songs, dances, gymnastic movements and acrobatic pieces, along with sound and lighting.







 Kim Ok Rim

Kim Ok Rim, a 25-year-old dancer of the Mansudae Art Troupe, told KCNA, "I am pleased to take part in the performance to be held amid great interest of world people. I will do my best in the performance, a masterpiece in the 21st century."

Pang Un Gyong

Pang Un Gyong, a 20-year-old factory worker, says, "It is the first time for me to take part in the performance. I am not sure I will make a good job. But dance directors and my friends help me in training. This makes me confident of my acting."

"Arirang" is based on events of weighty significance in the centenary history of the Korean nation.

It won diploma of the Guinness Book of World Records in Juche 96 (2007).

The performers include international and national concours winners, celebrated artistes, students and children.

The performance will take place at May Day Stadium in Pyongyang from August 1 to September 9.
