"I saw in the naive and cheerful smile of Jin Ok the happy life of the Korean children fully cultivating their talents under the care of leader Kim Jong Il, as well as a bright future of Korea." This is what an editor of the Chinese CCTV said after seeing her dancing.
KCNA had an interview with the girl, her parents and Kim Hye Kyong, a teacher of the Pyongyang Students and Children's Palace.
Question: Can you give me your impressions of "Gifted Talents", a performance of the world's prodigies?
Kim Hye Gyong: Under-15 children from many countries presented their talents at the performance. Kim Jin Ok participated in the performance with solo dances like "Dance with Water Jar" and "Dance with Drum." Her dancing was so amazing and fascinating that the sponsors gave her 30 more minutes, though the fixed time for each performer is less than 10 minutes. She danced to cheerful and charming Korean melodies, capturing the house. The principal of the Conservatory of the Chinese People's Liberation Army said Kim Jin Ok was a little world star. The principlal said, "I am a dance expert, but I admired the little girl's gifted talent. In particular, her rotating in a circle while beating a drum requires a high technique, worthy to be recorded in the Guinness Book. I think she owes her talent to the deep care of leader Kim Jong Il and his noble view of rising generation."
Question: I think you must have paid much effort to your daughter's development.
Mother (Choe Yong Hui): At first, my daughter learnt Kayagum (Korean musical instrument). When she said she wanted to dance, I thought she was just going to repeat movements she learnt in kindergarten. She could bring into full play her gifted talent and become a dance prodigy under the socialist education system of Korea. Only her gifted talent was not enough for winning such popularity. I am really grateful to the socialist education system.
Question: I think you father have a lot of things to speak.
Father (Kim Sun Chol): I was so glad to see my daughter when she came back after displaying the honor of the motherland. I will work hard for the socialist motherland.
Question: Jin Ok, you toured a foreign country as a dancer of the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Art Troupe and enjoyed great popularity at the New Year performance of schoolchildren this year and the performance of the world's prodigies. Can you tell me what you wish?
Kim Jin Ok: It is my greatest wish to dance for leader Kim Jong Il to delight him.
