Pupil's music group of Pyongyang Ryulgok Middle School

Music classes of Pyongyang Ryulgok Secondary School are famous for having sung songs well for children's films over the past four decades.

Han Song Hui, a teacher in charge of the music classes, told KCNA:

"Our schoolchildren have sung more than 2 000 songs for many children's films, including 'The Lazy Pig', 'A Swift-Winged Steed', 'The Boy General' and 'The Clever Raccoon Dog.' It is my great pleasure to find out and train talents. But sometimes I feel irritated with students failing to do what I taught them. So I work hard to improve my teaching method to suit their characteristics.

They sing songs not only for children's films but for feature films and TV dramas. Leader Kim Jong Il called our school 'oriole school'. I will do my best in the future to delight schoolchildren and people with good songs for films, living up to the expectation of the leader."

Kim Jin Hyang, a 15-year-old girl student, said:

"I am very happy when I sing a song. My parents are also pleased to listen to my songs at home. It is my wish to become a singer known by leader Kim Jong Il."

Some of the graduates from the school have become famous artistes.

A few years ago, Kim Jong Il enjoyed an art performance given by a company of the army. He was very pleased to learn that a recruit taking part in the performance graduated from the school. He had a picture taken with the soldier.
