Dance drama Story of Sado Castle created by Korean dancer Choe Sung Hui (최승희) was performed at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Saturday to commemorate her 100th birth anniversary.
Enjoying it were Kim Ki Nam, Yang Hyong Sop and others, officials, creators, artistes, journalists and editors in the field of dancing art and the press. Family members of Choe, overseas Korean artistes including the delegation of Korean dancers in Japan and overseas Koreans also saw the drama.
Choe left vivid records in the history of the Korean national dance development and the world literary and art history. She created the dance drama more than 50 years ago.
The drama gives a portrayal of the patriotic people in Sado Castle who fought against invasion by outside aggressors during the period of the Three Kingdoms.
The creators and artistes of the State Folk Art Troupe rehashed and completed dance drama Story of Sado Castle to suite the modern aesthetic tastes in reflection of the requirement of the original work in a brief span of time.
